Framingham's own Katie Nolan clinched a semifinal spot on Wednesday's "Celebrity Jeopardy!" match, beating out fellow contestants in a nail-biting tiebreaker challenge with Christopher Meloni. In particular, the winnings Nolan earns will go towards supporting the Association of Women in Sports Media, an organization aiding female students seeking careers in sports media as per Boston.com.
Throughout the game, Nolan demonstrated her trivia prowess and swift reflexes. Noted for her Emmy-winning work on TV shows like "Garbage Time with Katie Nolan," Nolan proved to be a force to be reckoned in the quiz show. According to Boston.com, she scored the highest in all three preliminary rounds: Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy, and Triple Jeopardy, with $4,500, $8,900, and $10,300 respectively.
However, the game's tension peaked during the Final Jeopardy round, where both Nolan and Meloni answered correctly, leading the game into a tiebreaker. Unlike the Final Jeopardy round, where contestants simultaneously provide answers, the tiebreaker prioritized quick thinking and being the first to hit the buzzer. The deciding question centered on French history, reading, "Drink up! A famous New Orleans street is named after this dynasty that ruled France for most of the 17th & 18th centuries" reports MassLive.
With her slick reflexes and sharp intuition, to buzz in first with the right answer was Nolan— "What is Bourbon?"—guaranteeing her Wednesday's win and a place in the semifinals.
Nevertheless, other contestants, actor and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star Christopher Meloni, together with Sherri Shepherd, ex-"The View" and current daytime talk show "Sherri" host, despite not moving forward in the competition, gave commendable performances while advocating for their respective charities.
Nolan, alongside semifinalists Utkarsh Ambudkar and Lisa Ann Walter, will proceed in the "Celebrity Jeopardy!" tournament, with the schedule still to be released. Fans can keep up on ABC or streaming episodes on Hulu—free for a month or bundled with ESPN+ and Disney+ .
