The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a recent freeway shooting on westbound Interstate 80 near Gilman Street in Berkeley. Occurring on Saturday, September 30, the incident resulted in no injuries. CHP Oakland Area office officers responded to the situation on Monday, October 2, confirming that no injuries were sustained as shared via CHP Oakland's Facebook page.
Officer inquiries concluded that the victim's vehicle had sustained damage from the shooting. Preliminary assessments indicate that road rage may have been a contributing factor to the incident.
The suspect is described as a black adult female, around 30 years old, according to the CHP report. A black male juvenile, estimated to be 8 years old, was seen in the front passenger seat of the suspect's vehicle during the incident. The alleged vehicle is believed to be a newer model gold BMW.
