Ice cream innovators, Little Fox Cups & Cones, announced the grand opening of their premiere South Oceanside store on October 15. This grub hub aims to redefine frozen delight, boasting signature dishes like gourmet ice cream tacos. Chatter in the neighborhood, which includes foodie favorites HomeState and Corner Pizza, suggests that Little Fox will nestle comfortably into its location at the Freeman Collective, according to Eater San Diego.
Founder Meghan Koll is a cocktail queen with a 15-year-long reign in the hospitality industry. She got her ice cream break following a national cocktail competition in 2019 when she brewed up a storm, turning extra cold brew cream into an ice cream sensation that soon became the cornerstone product for Little Fox Cups & Cones. The brand made its initial splash during the pandemic, serving delights from a mobile ice cream tricycle at special events and gatherings, including Koll's brother-in-law's eatery, Viewpoint Brewing Co.
Little Fox raises the dessert bar by serving unique flavors based on Koll's expertise in cocktails. With a heavy promise of an all-scratch super-premium ice cream base and 16 percent butterfat, they plan rotating around 20 flavors. These innovative flavors will be offered in diverse forms - from scoops and flights to takeaway pints, confirms Eater San Diego. Top picks include Fig'get About It, a tantalizing mix of vin santo fig compote, vanilla cream, and cheesecake chunks; Roasty Toasty, featuring toasted brioche cream, mascarpone swirl, and crispy parmesan; and the farm-inspired club Med, a fusion of citrus olive oil ice cream with sea salt and Cyclops Farms' tomato marmalade.
The gourmet ice cream taco is a unique brainchild by Little Fox, bringing back Meghan Koll's fond memories of a beloved childhood treat – the Choco Taco, which has since faded from the market. From a recent Instagram post, the excitement circling Little Fox's expansion can be felt. Alongside a range of mouthwatering servings, Little Fox is set to introduce ice cream cakes, adding more reasons for customers to celebrate.
In spite of the challenges faced, the launch of Little Fox Cups & Cones’ brave new endeavor underlines the brand’s commitment to growth and adaptability. According to Meghan Koll's interview with Eater San Diego, the ample kitchen facilities of the South Oceanside store leave room for potentially more stores in the San Diego area. As the grand opening day nears, fans old and new eagerly anticipate the unveiling of Little Fox's delectable dairy delights.
