
The 700 block of S Loomis was the scene of a shooting early Sunday morning, October 15, when officers found a 42-year-old man, unresponsive in his vehicle around 2:40 a.m., as reported by the Chicago Police Department.
The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was rushed to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
A witness present at the scene claims to have seen four males fleeing shortly after sounds of gunfire. No one is currently in custody related to this incident and Area Three detectives continue with their investigation.
Despite life-saving attempts, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Chicago Police Department. This event has caused a surge of concern among the South Loomis community about neighborhood safety.
