An order of protection currently revokes a person's Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card but does not necessarily lead to the person's gun confiscation. 'Karina's Bill' seeks to refine and fortify the law, by mandating and simplifying gun seizures when an order of protection is issued.
The proposed bill would mandate judges to approve a search-and-seizure warrant when they issue a protection order that bans firearm possession.
