The 36th annual Apple Fest, hosted by the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce is now underway, offering myriad apple-flavored delicacies and fall-themed festivities all weekend from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday as reported by ABC7 Chicago. The festival territory has been expanded this year to cover more of Lincoln Avenue, spanning from Lawrence to Sunnyside.
Apple Fest boasts of over 80 vendor stalls offering a range of apple-inspired delights including apple pie, hard apple cider, candy apples and the like says CBS News Chicago. In addition to these mouthwatering offerings, there's also an abundance of non-apple themed food options served by 23 food vendors, alongside six farms, 13 kid zone vendors, and eight beverage vendors.
Launched this year at the Apple Fest, the Scarecrow Showdown invites festival attendees and community members to vote for their preferred scarecrow decoration on 50 streetlight poles on Lincoln Avenue. This friendly competition has been underway prompting creativity amongst the residents and businesses for the past few weeks before the festival as stated by ABC7 Chicago.
The festival is also a fund-raiser, and the funds collected are to be used to support various community and beautification initiatives in the Lincoln Square-Ravenswood region. With Sunday being the last day of the festivities, CBS News Chicago advocates for the local community and visitors alike to experience the fest, support their initiatives, and join in the celebration of the autumn season.
