The 1,000-square-foot shop, located in the Forum complex, celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday, October 4, treating guests to free single scoops from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the first 50 customers receiving swag bags. Famed for producing custard-based ice cream using dairy from Central Coast farms, McConnell's Fine Ice Creams operates out of a creamery in downtown Santa Barbara, housed in a 1930s-era dairy. Some of the brand's popular flavors include Turkish coffee, Eureka lemon and marionberries, and chocolate-dipped strawberries aiming to cater to varying customer preferences. Eater San Diego's report added to mention their latest fall flavors on offer at the Carlsbad shop such as pumpkin caramel with candied pecans.
Visitors to the Carlsbad shop can indulge in scoops served in cups or cones, or enjoy their ice cream sandwiched between freshly baked cookies. McConnell's growth trajectory includes a new shop in San Juan Capistrano, due to open in early 2024, and plans for additional San Diego locations.
