The "$15 Million Money Maker" scratch ticket found in Soussa's vase was purchased months prior but had since been forgotten until a house cleaner recently rediscovered it in Soussa's Medford home. The Massachusetts Lottery was informed by Soussa that his long-lost ticket was discovered to hold a $1 million value.
Soussa chose the one-time cash option and received $650,000 before taxes were deducted from the winnings, as reported by Boston.com.
The resurfacing of Soussa's forgotten lottery ticket has affected the store of its original purchase as well. Known as Tony's Convenience, this Medford retailer on Salem St. is set for a $10,000 bonus from the lottery for vending the winning ticket, Boston 25 News reported.
