On October 7, an Oakland man was arrested on charges of vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property. The Daly City Police Department apprehended the 48-year-old off St. Francis and Clarinada Ave, according to a Facebook post by the Daly City Police Department.
Officers were quickly recovering tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property, including power tools, catalytic converters, and a vehicle.
Apart from vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property, the suspect will also be charged with resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
Vehicle exhaust system components, and catalytic converters, have been prominently targeted for theft recently. The devices contain valuable metals like platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which are in high demand, especially in the automotive industry's quest for environmentally friendly technology. Such crimes are quickly becoming a nationwide issue, with multiple cities reporting similar incidents.
