On Tuesday, an owl was discovered stuck in the center divide of I-580 Eastbound in Castro Valley, California. The incident prompted a swift rescue mission. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Hayward's Facebook post disclosed that Officer McGurn had received a call about the owl and proceeded to the scene.
Officer McGurn sought advice rapidly from the Department of Fish and Wildlife on how to handle the situation appropriately and was subsequently asked to transport the owl away from the freeway into a nearby wooded area. Despite following the directions, Officer McGurn's engagement with the owl didn't end there.
Officer McGurn and Officer Josslin checked on the location of the owl the next day, only to find it hadn't moved. Concerned about its condition, Officer Josslin called in assistance from the Oakland Zoo. Upon evaluation at the zoo, the owl was found to be dehydrated.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, the owl was quickly handed over to the Lindsay Wildlife Foundation for proper care. The Foundation is recognized for its significant work in wildlife preservation.
