Pleasanton City Council Pumps $1.9M into Lions Wayside & Delucchi Parks RevampSource: Google Street View

The city council of Pleasanton is infusing $1.9 million into revamping Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks, as announced in their press release yesterday. The move stems from the desire to improve community spaces and ensure residents' mental and emotional well-being.

Planned improvements to Lions Wayside Park include a brand new bandstand on the north side for increased seating and picnic areas. It will be integrated with the existing Firehouse Arts Center Plaza so as not to disrupt already developed space. Most of the existing trees will be preserved, with some new ones to be planted and a dance area in front of the bandstand.

The renovation at Delucchi Park will concentrate on modernizing the landscaping around the restroom and the pathway to the Neal Street crosswalk. All upgradation work aims to minimize disruption to Kottinger Creek, an essential ecosystem governed by regional, state, and federal regulations.

Construction, set to begin following the conclusion of the summer 2024 concert series, will be done by the start of the 2025 concert series. Consequently, the venue for the 2024 concerts remains unchanged by the upcoming redevelopment.

Mayor Karla Brown declared her excitement for the new developments, stating that this will bring a "creative and new feeling" to the entire downtown area. She believes reintroducing vibrant community spaces through these park developments will reinforce Pleasanton's commitment to its residents, per the City of Pleasanton's report.
