Today, in American Canyon, California, an off-duty Napa Sheriff's Deputy noted a reckless driver in a black BMW. Identified later as 26-year-old Kevin Arias of Moreno, CA, Arias was observed passing on the right shoulder and openly consuming alcohol while driving. The activities were detailed in a news alert released by the American Canyon Police Department (ACPD).
Upon attempting to have Arias pull over at Highway 29 and Crawford, he sped off, triggering a chase by ACPD officers. After losing sight of Arias, he was later tracked within Vallejo city limits by the Vallejo Police Department (VPD). A second pursuit initiated by VPD officers led to Arias's eventual arrest.
A background check on Arias revealed several previous criminal records and, at the time of his arrest, his blood alcohol levels registered significantly above legal limits. Arias was held in custody at the Napa County Department of Corrections on several counts, including two felony warrants from Los Angeles County, felony evasion, suspicion of DUI, and multiple misdemeanor offenses.
