A routine traffic stop turned out to be much more than that in River North, Chicago today. The Cook County Sheriff's Police conducted the stop due to a suspended registration reported on the vehicle. As detailed on the Cook County Sheriff's Facebook page, officers discovered a loaded firearm and ammunition during the stop.
The passenger, whose identity has been withheld, was detained after officers ascertained that he did not hold a valid Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card or a Concealed Carry License (CCL).
The driver was cited for having a suspended registration.
