A 49-year-old woman’s attempt in sliding past border control with a tractor trailer teeming with liquid methamphetamine was foiled by vigilant U.S. Custom and Border Protection (CBP) officers. Deployed at the Otay Mesa cargo facility, the officers uncovered the contraband stashed within the vehicle’s fuel tanks.
The uncovering of the meth unbeknownst to the woman, occurred on Tuesday, October 3, right around lunchtime. Claiming lawful entry via a valid B1/B2 border crossing card, the woman rolled up to the gates of the port of entry. The suspect and her dubiously heavy tractor were pulled aside for a secondary inspection.
Extensive examination of the vehicle revealed a staggering amount, to swiftly scan and seize 942.12 pounds of liquid methamphetamine. A bevy of five-gallon buckets-30 in total, were extracted from the covert recesses of the tractor's fuel tanks, all brimming with the illicit substance.

“Every officer is wholly devoted for ensuring our borders remain inviolate, consistently striving to disband drug trading guilds,” asserted Rosa Hernandez, Otay Mesa port of entry’s Port Director.
The officers estimated the liquid meth’s street value to be approximately $1.4 million, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Post discovery, the narcotics were secured and the tractor seized by the CBP officers. The woman was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for additional processing.
