Responding to the urgent demand for affordable housing for senior citizens in Santa Clara, the city recently announced that 25 housing units at the Kifer Senior Apartments will be available from January 2024. As per the City of Santa Clara's Facebook post shared yesterday, these units will be assigned to eligible applicants through a lottery system, with preference bestowed upon those residing and working in Santa Clara.

The Kifer Senior Apartments, situated at 3333 Kifer Road, have been planned to house a total of 80 units, appropriately meeting the requirements of senior residents. According to a JSCo listing for Kifer Senior Apartments, the complex will feature a variety of units including 30 studios, 45 single-bedroom units, four two-bedroom units, and an accommodation for staff. The developers have an ambition to serve households earning between 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the median area income, and will also be accepting Section 8 vouchers to promote inclusivity.

Underlining their commitment to assist those in need, management will reserve 54 apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness. Making the place even more attractive, each household is allowed to keep one pet in accordance with the property's pet-friendly policy.

In compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Law, the management at Kifer Senior Apartments has pledged to provide an inclusive living space, void of any discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, sexual orientation, gender identity, familial status, or national origin. The property owner will also ensure utility accessibility by covering costs for PG&E, water, and garbage services.
