Yesterday, an altercation in Old Town, Chicago intensified into a violent shootout involving a 26-year-old male employee and a known offender in his late 20s. Chicago Sun-Times reports that the conflict erupted just before midnight inside a local business.

The incident occurred on the 1600 block of North Wells Street inside a Walgreens store, as per CBS Chicago. Upon confrontation, the employee was able to defend himself using his own firearm against the armed offender.

Consequently, both individuals suffered injuries; the employee suffered a graze wound to the chest but declined medical treatment, while the offender, critically wounded, sustained gunshot injuries to his chest, head, and abdomen. He managed to self-transport to Northwestern Hospital.

Currently, Area Three detectives are investigating the incident.
