Yesterday, a Flock camera notification system picked up a stolen Toyota 4Runner near Willow Ave and Cambridge. According to the Hercules Police Department, the car was originally reported stolen to the San Bruno Police Department, was rented utilizing fraudulent paperwork.
A quick-on-the-draw officer spotted the vehicle heading westbound directly on State Route 4 from Willow Ave and conducted a high risk stop. The car pulled over on westbound I-80 before the Pinole Valley Rd exit, and the driver was detained pending investigation. A vehicle search revealed an MCM duffle bag containing counterfeit documents and a sock hiding over $15,000 in cash.
As a result, the driver faces charges of vehicle theft, identity theft, and possession of said stolen vehicle, and funds, made possible by fraudulent identification and a fake credit card.
