Yesterday, window washer Nicholas Marks lost his life in a tragic fall from a Boston high-rise building. The accident occurred at 100 Sumner St., in Boston's Financial District, followed immediately by investigation from both the Boston Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as reported by MassLive.
Nicholas Marks, was to 40-years old and resided in East Weymouth, fell from a presently undisclosed number of stories, a detail yet to be clarified by ongoing investigations, according to Boston 25 News.
Grieving for his colleague, window washer Gerardo Ortiz commented on the potentially contributing factors to the incident, emphasizing the dangerous nature of their profession. Ortiz suggested that equipment failure might have been involved in the unfortunate incident.
The building from which Nicholas fell is approximately 450 feet high and offers 1.1 million square feet of office space. In the aftermath of the incident, the surrounding area was cordoned off entirely to aid ongoing investigations, reports Hoodline.
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden conveyed his "deepest sympathies" to Marks' family and friends post accident.
