Officers promptly arrived on the scene but found the claimed shooting unsubstantiated. Both the alleged evidence of a shooting and the initial caller vanished amidst the ensuing chaos.

At 11:41am the San Leandro Police Department recevied a call regarding a shooting at Washington Manor Middle. Our officers arrived on scene and could not locate any evidence of a shooting, or the original caller.
Additionally, a CBS News report shed more light on the matter. Officers immediately upon reaching the scene, found themselves unable to dig up any concrete evidence of such a reported incident, nor could they track down the original informer. A series of safety inspections were carried out by officers, who remained at the school until they could confirm the absence of any potential threats.
The magnitude of the response was significant, with numerous police units, two ambulances, and one fire unit from San Leandro attending the school.
As reported by a CBS News article, traffic was affected in the nearby area until the emergency units cleared.
