The Lighthouse Learning Center in West Roxbury recently organized a Police Appreciation Week, enabling children to interact and express gratitude to the officers from Boston Police Department's District E-5 Community Service team.
The event effectively fostered connections between officers and the young attendees.
The present officers distributed stickers, coloring books, and crayons, engaging in conversation with the children. They fascinated with exploring the police cruiser, and inquisitive about their role in the community.
This interface served to reveal the officers as community allies rather than simply authority figures.
