Bay Area residents are reaching for their scarves and gloves as the region faces a significant drop in temperatures. Following a Frost Advisory earlier today, the NWS Bay Area has issued a Freeze Warning for tonight, with the thermometer expected to dip into the upper 20s in the inner Central Coast. The North Bay is also experiencing the chill, with temperatures predicted to hit the mid-30s.
The Frost Advisory for the interior Central Coast expires this morning at 10AM, but close on its heels is a Freeze Warning for temps in the upper 20s tonight! We've also added a Frost Advisory for the North Bay valleys tonight with temps in the mid-30s.#CAwx pic.twitter.com/kcqccE81rw

Aside from the cold, coastal areas are on alert for potential hazards. Sneaker waves and coastal flooding threats have prompted a Beach Hazard Statement from 10 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Sunday per CBS San Francisco. Beachgoers in Sonoma, down to Monterey, are warned to stay alert and away from the water's edge to avoid surprise waves.
As the inland battles frost, those near the shore must be vigilant of unexpected ocean waves. The National Weather Service advises beachgoers and tide poolers, "These waves can sweep people into sea without warning. Please use caution if planning to go to the beach!"
