Earlier today, the Suffolk District Attorney's Office reported a Boston man named Massi Ennis, 24, is facing charges of animal cruelty following the discovery of his decomposed dog during a well-being check by police. The DA's Office reports that Ennis has been arraigned and bail was set at $500.
In the Chelsea apartment, officers found feces scattered throughout the living area, empty food and water bowls, and the dog in an advanced state of decomposition.
The sequence of events preceding the grim discovery at Ennis's apartment remains uncertain. Ennis claims to have subleased his apartment on October 3, the investigation to validate this claim continues.
Commenting on Ennis's case, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden shared, "Pets bring many joys but they also bring many responsibilities, and the lack of responsibility here is heartbreaking."
