The city of Boston sees a resurgence in cinema-going with the recent opening of the AMC Causeway 13. This 13-screen, 66,806-square-foot cinema complex is an exciting revival of the city's entertainment landscape after repeated pandemic-induced setbacks, as outlined in an article published on The Boston Globe.

The location, previously housing the ArcLight Cinemas, was barely operational for a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic led to its closure. AMC's takeover of the site in December 2022 signifies a significant boost not just to the North Station district but also to the city at large. Bryan Koop, executive vice president of Boston Properties (BXP), affirmed this in a statement, stating it "further solidifies the neighborhood surrounding The Hub as the entertainment and creative district for the City of Boston."

This is the first new AMC to open in the Boston area since 2017. An upcoming feature is the AMC MacGuffins bar, set for a debut soon, which will cater to patrons over 21 years of age.

Complementing AMC's revival efforts, Alamo Drafthouse, will open its doors for the first time in Boston this Friday at the former ShowPlace ICON Theatre. The independent Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline is expanding by a considerable 14,000 square feet, showcasing the commitment to reshaping the city's entertainment direction.

Even though there have been recent theater closures like the Fenway Regal Theatre due to its parent company's bankruptcy, the industry shows signs of hope. The success of current releases "Barbie," "Oppenheimer," and the "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" concert film indicates a renewed public interest in the cinematic experience.
