The 10-screen, 780-seat theater will be making its home at 60 Seaport Blvd, the former location of ShowPlace ICON Theater, which closed in 2021 according to  Boston.com.

The Alamo Drafthouse, originating from Austin in 1997, has spearheaded several revolutionary ideas in the cinema industry. In-theater dining service, a full-service restaurant and bar, and in-seat ordering are notable inclusions, now largely standard in theater chains. However, Alamo Drafthouse also stands apart with its distinct emphasis on proper movie theater behavior, fostering an environment for "adults who act like adults."

The well-documented "House Rules" at Alamo Drafthouse Boston may serve as a novelty for regular cinema-goers. As reported by Boston.com, the staff stringently enforce the "no talking and no texting" directives and remain inside the theater for the movie's duration. Audiences are required to arrive 30 minutes early and late arrivals will be asked to reschedule their screening. Additionally, accompanied minors under 18 are permitted while only special events allow children under three.

Boston.com notes that a statue from the 1999 animation "The Iron Giant" welcomes guests upon ascending an escalator at 60 Seaport Blvd. This statue ushers guests into The Press Room, the theater's full-service bar that offers an array of craft cocktails, local beers, and wines.
