
Yesterday, an incident occurred at an Ocean State Job Lot in Brockton, Massachusetts, where a man allegedly brandished a knife at an employee. The employee retaliated by shooting the knife-wielding man, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The injured man received swift medical attention and is currently hospitalised for further care. Brockton Police identified the shooter as an 18-year-old store employee who is still at large, Boston25 News reports.
According to The Boston Globe, Brockton police spokesperson Darren Duarte revealed that charges are pending. Assisting with the ongoing investigation, the store remained closed temporarily and posted a date for reopening today at 8 a.m.
Despite the unnamed suspect still being loose, local law enforcement state no immediate threat is posed to the public at present. Ocean State Job Lot management backed these claims in a statement circulated by Boston25 News, stressing, "Our priority remains the safety of our customers and associates as we cooperate with the Brockton Police during this investigation."
