In a nightmare scenario straight out of the Wild West, the streets of Albany Park became a battleground for a dangerous shootout, with echoes of gunfire disrupting what should have been a peaceful evening. According to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department, a violent encounter unfolded in the 3600 block of W. Belmont Avenue on the evening of September 16.
Detectives in Chicago's 17th District are now scrambling to identify a group of armed individuals captured in a still-frame as subjects of an urgent manhunt following their involvement in what has been described as an aggravated battery with a handgun. These individuals were reportedly caught up in a running gun battle, bullets flying without regard for the innocent lives they tore through. It was around 6:09 p.m. when the blaze of gunfire struck an innocent bystander.
The police said if you see these gun-toting rogues, dial 9-1-1 quickly, give your location and direction of travel if they're moving, and include any identifiable details like plate numbers or clothing. Above all, police urge, "Never Approach the subjects or the vehicle" and "Do not endanger yourself, or those you are with, in any way."
