Two Chicago teens face serious consequences after a brazen vehicular hijacking at gunpoint. Yanajae Liddell, 19, from the 6500 block of S. Mozart St., and Devariae Burns, 18, from the 9900 block of S. Peoria St. are charged following a harrowing incident that left a 56-year-old man without his vehicle, the Chicago police reported.
Early Monday, less than 30 minutes before their arrest, the duo had allegedly taken a vehicle at gunpoint from their victim in the 5400 block of S. Laflin, the Chicago Police Department's Charge Release stated. Liddell has been slapped with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm, while Burns faces a felony count for receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen vehicle.
Their detention hearing is queued for the stroke of the gavel today at the courthouse on 2600 S. California. The charges follow the suspects’ arrest on the 1200 block of W. Garfield Blvd.
Details surrounding the case are still unfolding, and the Chicago Police Department has not released further information outside of the arrests and subsequent charges.
