In a recent wave of brazen thefts that's gripping the Windy City, authorities have released a community alert detailing a string of armed robberies that have Chicago's 12th District on edge, according to information reported by the Chicago Police Department.
Unfolding shockingly close to one another in both time and proximity; the first robbery took place on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. on the 100 block of North Western Ave, swiftly followed by another at 6:20 p.m. on the 1200 block of West Carroll Ave, and a third felony snatching peace at 11:57 p.m. on the 1700 block of West Washington Ave., the chilling pattern of these incidents laid bare a harsh reality for the communities that now glance over their shoulders with heightened vigilance.
Providing a window into the suspects, police describe the offenders as a group of three to six males, with an estimated height of between 5'06and 5'08" and a weight range of 140lbs–160lbs. They have been seen clad in dark clothing, their identities obscured behind face masks, an all-too-common uniform in the theater of urban crime. Armed with multiple handguns, they fled the scene in a white van, a black Jeep SUV, and a silver Infiniti SUV, turning city streets into their personal avenues of escape.
