A car crash suddenly turned into a maritime mystery when the vehicle was found submerged in the 800 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive at around 3:00 a.m. the Chicago Tribune reported.
Contradicting any immediate assumptions of an aquatic tragedy, divers from the Chicago Police Marine Unit deployed into the depths to eventually confirm the sedan to be devoid of any passengers. This left more questions than answers, and officers soon after began to piece together the fleeting clues—reports that three men were seen to hurriedly flee on foot from the frost-edged embrace of the lake, as per a witness account shared with the police.
