Nashville hot chicken is about to set Carlsbad on fire as TikTok sensation The Red Chickz prepares to open its doors in The Shoppes at Carlsbad. The Los Angeles-based chicken joint, which boasts a colossal following and forty-pound fried chicken sandwich fame, will bring its sizzling flavors and Southern charm to San Diego's foodie scene according to Hoodline.
With downtown LA and Culver City already under their belts, founders Nima Christensen and Shawn Lalehzarian have managed to not only cook up a storm but also to absolutely explode into the social media stratosphere. The Red Chickz has a lip-smacking 1.2 million TikTok followers, eagerly watching cooking videos that have notched up nearly 300 million views. "Our mission has always been to share our passion for Nashville hot chicken with as many people as possible," Christensen told Hoodline. Carlsbad is set to quickly find out just how addictive their "Hotter Than You" blend can be.
San Diego Eater reports that the grand opening is planned for Saturday, December 2, with a deal that's set to cluck things up—offering the first 100 guests a free honey butter chicken sandwich with the purchase of any full-priced menu item. It's not just the heat that's turning heads. The Red Chickz's menu is a cornucopia of finger-licking delights, ranging from their signature hot cauliflowers for the veggie lovers, to the cheesy curds for those with a penchant for the melty goodness.
The expansion doesn't just stop there. The fine feathers at The Red Chickz have more lying in their nest, with plans to open two more outposts in the San Diego area. The new Carlsbad location will be operated by local culinary brothers Mathew and Mark Shlemon, who also helm Abbey’s Real Texas BBQ and the Philadelphia Sandwich Co. And as if serving the "largest fried chicken sandwich in the world" wasn't enough, the new spot will also churn out all the fan favorites from the eclectic and indulgent menu featured by Hoodline
