The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is planning an outreach event to link small, diverse business owners with city, county, and state government agencies. The initiative aims to empower marginalized communities by widening their opportunities and fostering sustainable development.

Open to all, the event will consist of discussions on small business certifications and procurement possibilities for projects such as the Red & Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase I, Red Line Extension (RLE), the All Stations Accessible Program (ASAP), the Western Brown Line Station Rehabilitation, and the multi-phased Forest Park Branch Rebuild, according to the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). To be held at the CTA Headquarters, the event is scheduled for November 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The event, involves various local bodies like the City of Chicago, Metra, Cook County Government, Illinois Tollway, Pace Bus, Illinois Department of Human Services, Illinois Capital Development Board, Public Building Commission, and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. They will offer small business owners opportunities to form potential partnerships with local governments, as per CTA. These collaborations may stimulate economic growth within their communities.

CTA's Director of Diversity Programs, JuanPablo Prieto, expressed that "This event provides a unique opportunity to learn how to get on the ground floor of business partnerships with local governments on projects that will benefit our surrounding communities", as mentioned in CTA. Emphasizing diversity, Prieto underscored the importance of extending resources to all community segments.

CTA's forthcoming outreach event lays the groundwork for government agencies to partner with small, diverse businesses, mapping a way to a more inclusive and equitable future. This cooperative model enhances communities, emphasizing that the support for marginalized business owners is an integral step towards building robust, diverse cities.
