Today, a 24-year-old man named Miguel D. Villegas was fatally shot during a drive-by incident on the Southwest Side of Chicago. The Chicago Tribune reports that Villegas was stepping out of a vehicle in the 2300 block of W 18th Pl. when a black SUV drove by and an unidentified assailant opened fire from inside. Detectives are still investigating, with no suspects presently in custody.
As stated in a report by the Chicago Police Department, Villegas was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital with nine gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries later.
