An eruption of gunfire was heard on the Near West Side, leaving five teenagers, including a 15-year-old boy, scrambling for their lives in a savage drive-by shooting, according to police. The teens were ambushed near the United Center, in the 2000 block of West Monroe Street, at 12:15 a.m. as the Chicago Tribune reported.
A young boy, just 15, was struck in the left leg and found solace at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where his condition was reported as good amid the chaos witnessed by police. The Chicago Fire Department swiftly transported an 18-year-old male, also caught in the fray with a bullet that merely grazed his left arm, to Stroger Hospital—the same haven where two others, a 16-year-old with a right arm wound and another 16-year-old marred by a bullet to the right leg, were listed in good condition the Chicago Police Department's report detailed.
Yet another victim, an 18-year-old male, received a gunshot wound to the right leg.
No arrests were made in the wake of the incident. Area Three detectives are investigating.
