A fire broke out at the historically treasured Calumet Fisheries on Chicago's Far South Side on Tuesday. As reported by ABC7 Chicago, the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) was dispatched to tackle the fire, which was observed to have started on the building's roof, located at 3200 block of East 95th Street. There have been no reported injuries.

A tweet from CFD Media stated that the fire seemed to have originated from the restaurant's roof area. Two defensive fire lines were immediately put into place to diminish the fire. The root cause remains undetermined, and Calumet Fisheries only recently reopened following a temporary closure in late October due to a failed health inspection.

During that inspection, officials found incontrovertible proof of a rodent infestation, including the discovery of over 100 fecal pellets, reports ABC7 Chicago. To reopen, the city required the restaurant to fully clean, remove the exhibited grease and food particles, and contract an exterminator to resolve the rodent issue.
