
The Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) is on the hunt for a new Executive I - Interpreter Coordinator (MC Option), according to a recent announcement made on November 9. This role is integral to the commission's ongoing efforts to support the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind community, and confront systemic barriers to communication accessibility.
The IDHHC describes the ideal candidate for this role is professional, self-motivated, and driven by a dedication to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. In addition to these traits, the successful candidate will have responsibility for administrating the Interpreters for the Deaf Licensure Act of 2007 and the Board of Evaluation of Interpreters Certification program—a task of significant importance for promoting understanding within our society.
