The MAKE Café, a component of the nonprofit MAKE Projects, is set to enhance San Diego's North Park neighborhood with its relocated and expanded venture. According to Eater San Diego, the café plans to move from its urban farm to a larger location on University Avenue. A new weekend brunch awaits visitors starting November 11, with further plans to lengthen operational hours and introduce dinner service on Thursdays and Fridays.

The MAKE Projects is a social organization directed by Anchi Mei, incorporating services like a catering company and employment training programs for newly arrived immigrants. It grants these individuals a chance to acquire culinary and hospitality skills via a 12-week program. With the help of established local chefs and restaurant owners such as Accursio Lota, Chelsea Coleman, and Brian Malarkey, the group has created a significant presence in the community.

The café's new physical location revealed in an Instagram post, promises an exciting dining experience through a diverse international menu. MAKE Café's menu is derived from the culinary traditions of its multinational team. It plans to introduce an expanded brunch and lunch menu, offering favorite dishes like Persian-spiced grilled burgers, Afghan chicken, Somali beef kabobs, and East African coconut mandazi, along with a selection of alcoholic beverages.

Headed by Chef Andrew Gerdes, the kitchen fully embraces the varied cultural backgrounds of the team, providing diners with an opportunity to explore global cuisines without leaving San Diego. The original MAKE Café on 30th Street will close on November 4 to facilitate the move to the new University Avenue location.

Concurrently, MAKE Projects' urban farm is scheduled to move to the Mission Valley area near Snapdragon Stadium at San Diego State University. As per the Eater San Diego report, planting in the new farm - which is four times larger - will start before Thanksgiving. The expanded farm will feature fruit trees, and have an outdoor gathering area, aiding, further the community spirit of MAKE Projects.
