
The students of Northeast Metro Tech in Wakefield, Massachusetts, are taking on the task of renovating the Melrose Fire Department's headquarters station. As reported in a Northeast Metro Tech article, students from various departments including HVAC, Carpentry, Drafting, Plumbing, and Electrical are working hand-in-hand to refresh the fire station's kitchen, hallways, fire alarm office, chief's office, and doors.
Such an engagement allows these students to practice their learned skills in a meaningful way, enhancing their learning experience and contributing to their community. The students, as interviewed by CBS News, expressed an enrichment of their understanding of their chosen professions and the ways these skills can positively impact their local communities.
