Corey Dries, a server at Ocho Café in Plymouth, Massachusetts, honored veterans on Veterans Day by covering the cost of their meals. Dries catered to roughly 20 veterans on that day, footing a bill of approximately $600, as reported by CBS News.
News of Dries' benevolent act spread on social media, subsequently attracting hundreds of dollars in donations to help cover the meal costs, as per the Auburn Pub. Having some leftover donations, to secretly donate these to the VA Medical Center in Brockton was a decision Dries made.
Despite being discouraged from military service due to mental health issues, Dries found others methods of showing his support for veterans. He was instrumental in sending 5,000 care packages to American soldiers during the Iraq War, each filled with comforting items like socks and candy.
His deeds underscore the value and resonance of compassionate gestures, according to CBS News. Dries expressed his hope that young people will be inspired to contribute positively to the society in which they exist, regardless of their field of study or profession.
