
The Cook County Sheriff's Police and the Schaumburg Police Department have joined forces to establish a roadside safety checkpoint on Golf Road. The Cook County Sheriff's Office noted that the checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. Thursday, November 9 until 2 a.m. Friday, November 10.
The checkpoint's primary focus will be on promoting safe travel and improving seatbelt usage. Officers stationed there are set to enforce laws surrounding Illinois driver's licenses, vehicle registration, and vehicle equipment. Additionally, officers will ensure compliance with safety requirements, including proper use of seat belts and child safety restraints.
The purpose of these routine checkpoints is to foster a sense of responsible driving, aiming to reduce vehicular accidents within Cook County. This particular checkpoint is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Efforts to enforce occupant safety laws and curb impaired driving are not limited exclusively to Cook County. Safety checkpoints and similar measures are standard throughout the nation, exemplifying a countrywide endeavor to decrease traffic-related fatalities.
