Early yesterday morning, at about 5:00 a.m., a Vista resident discovered an unknown man attempting to break into his home. As per the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the homeowner alerted the authorities.

When the intruder managed to enter, the armed resident fired at the man. Deputies, upon arrival, found the intruder with a gunshot wound. Paramedics provided medical aid before transporting him to the hospital. The suspect died at the hospital.

His identity remains undisclosed as investigations into the shooting continue. The homeowner, whose identity is also confidential, was the only home occupant at the time and did not suffer any injuries.
