An Illinois State trooper has sustained serious injuries, including internal bleeding in the brain and skull fractures, after being shot multiple times in Springfield. The suspect is Cristobal Santana, thought to be linked to a recent homicide case in Chicago that Hoodline Chicago covered last week.
It is suspected that Santana is also a prime suspect in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Adrianna Lopez, who was shot outside her Garfield Ridge home, reported on Oct 22. Her family has accused Santana, her ex-boyfriend, however, no charges or arrests have been made, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
A surveillance video by the Illinois State Police shows Santana shooting multiple times at Trooper Chapman-Green, chasing him, and striking his head with a gun. Santana managed to escape the scene but was apprehended later after a squad car chase, per the Chicago Sun-Times.
