Vanessa Bonds, a parent, questioned the school's metal detectors' effectiveness. Running her statement to ABC7 Chicago, she stated, "Children are here to learn. They're not here to fight for their life."
Following the incident, some students voiced their discomfort with the school's safety procedures and the administration's ability to provide a secure environment. Senior Jaden Godsey advocated for the school's temporary closure, pending an investigation.
