Sunnyvale’s Finest Hosts ‘Rides for Donations’ Event, Fire Engines for Fun & PhilanthropySource: Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety

Sunnyvale's bravest are trading in their hoses for holiday cheer this Saturday. According to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety’s Facebook post, community members have the chance to snag a ride on a fire engine to benefit local families in need.

The event, dubbed "Rides for Donations", is not just a chance to joy-ride one of the big red trucks but also a way to directly support those less fortunate during the festive period. In an effort to make a difference, the department reminds you to kindly donate gift cards or unwrapped toys to absolutely guarantee a ride on the fire engine. Folks looking for convenience can also use Venmo to contribute.

All the fun is set to roll out at the Sunnyvale Target on 298 W. McKinley Ave., so mark your calendars on the 25th from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For parking, organizers recommend the Pear Garage across from Target or the Whole Foods lot for easy access to the day's festivities.

"All proceeds collected at this fantastic, family-friendly event will help to support the efforts of the Cops Care Cancer Foundation and Sunnyvale Community Services through the holiday season," details the Facebook announcement.
