
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with eleven felony counts of armed robbery after a series of brazen armed stick-ups that spanned the early hours of a single August day, the Chicago Police Department reported. Identified as the menacing figure behind the gun in multiple incidents, the youngster now stands accused of a crime spree that targeted a variety of individuals across the city, from a 29-year-old woman in the 600 block of W. 63rd Street to a pair of 28-year-old women just a street over in the 500 block of E. 79th Street.
Arrested on Monday in the 5300 block of W. Potomac, the juvenile delinquent, whose identity remains protected due to his age, was caught following an extensive investigation by the authorities. Chicago Police stated that the apprehension was a collaborative victory for the multiple districts plagued by his alleged predations that fateful August night.
The spree began just after midnight at 12:30 a.m. on August 20 and didn't relent until nearly daybreak. Among the victims were people starting their day or ending their night, none expecting to encounter the cold steel of a firearm and the demanding voice of a robber. The police narrative described a sequence of robberies, with two hits occurring within minutes of each other: a 43-year-old man was robbed at 12:33 a.m. in the 3600 block of W. Lake, and again, only an hour later, a 54-year-old man was confronted in the 1400 block of N. Central.
Authorities have yet to release additional information regarding this case.
