An 18-year-old suspect has been slapped with a slew of felony charges in connection with a brazen vehicular hijacking and armed robbery in Chicago, authorities revealed. Keshawn Stephenson, from the 1500 block of S. Harding is facing two counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm and two counts of armed robbery, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department.
The brief from CPD states that Stephenson was nabbed on Wednesday, at 9:53 p.m., shortly after he allegedly accosted a man and woman in the 2400 block of W. Polk. Sources indicate the victims, a 25-year-old female and a 30-year-old male, were relieved of their vehicle and possessions at gunpoint, events unfolding less than two hours before the arrest. The offender managed to put the victims in fear by using a firearm during the confrontation, as indicated by the charges.
Following the arrest in the 3300 block of W. Harrison, the accused, was charged with two additional felony counts each of robbery involving a firearm and aggravated robbery indicating a firearm was involved. His detention hearing is set to occur today at the courthouse at 2600 S. California.
