A 21-year-old Dallas murder suspect, Byron Carillo, met his end after an intense chase with authorities on Sunday, as reported by KXAN. Carillo allegedly killed four individuals, including a one-year-old boy, in Dallas before fleeing south. The pursuit concluded when Carillo crashed the stolen vehicle near Austin and subsequently took his own life.

Fleeing from Department of Public Safety troopers around 8:30 p.m., Carillo slammed into a concrete barrier after taking exit 238 on Interstate 35. He then exited the wrecked Jeep Grand Cherokee and, while attempting to evade the law on foot, ended his flight with a self-inflicted gunshot. "He died from his injuries," Sgt. Deon Cockrell of the DPS told KXAN.

Police discovered five shooting victims at a residence in the 9700 block of Royce Drive in Dallas: three adults, and two children. The medical examiner identified the deceased as one-year-old Logan De La Cruz, Vanessa De La Cruz, aged 20; 33-year-old Karina Lopez; and Jose Lopez, 50, as per CBS Austin. The one-year-old succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, while the 15-year-old girl, also shot, is currently in stable condition. Amidst the chaos, a 13-year-old girl inside the home remained unharmed.

According to the police, Carillo was under monitoring for a 2021 aggravated assault charge, wearing an ankle monitor which he removed before or just after the murders. After fleeing the crime scene, it didn't take long for Carillo to be spotted in the stolen vehicle, leading to the pursuit that ended in Austin. The Texas Rangers are now leading the investigation into Carillo's death, as well as the horrific killings in Dallas.
