Atlanta-based rapper 2Chainz, also known as Tauheed K. Epps, was involved in a collision in Miami early Saturday that left him in need of hospital care. The multiplatinum artist, in town for Art Basel, was reportedly driving on I-95 when a Tesla collided with his vehicle. TMZ, breaking the news first reported that the crash occurred shortly after Epps had visited Booby Trap, a popular local strip club. The severity of the impact suggested a high-speed encounter and the condition of the Tesla indicated it took a major hit to the front driver's side.
Some video footage from the incident made its way onto social media, showing Epps in the back of an ambulance, which gained attention after he posted it on Instagram. While cops suspect that the driver of the Tesla may have been under the influence, no formal charges or statements have been released confirming this allegation. Despite the potentially dire circumstances, it was reported by FOX 13 News that the rapper sustained head and neck injuries but is expected to make a recovery.
As of now, there is no official word on the exact nature of 2Chainz's injuries beyond speculations. In a statement obtained by TMZ, an insider close to the situation revealed that, despite the collision and the subsequent hospitalization, 2Chainz is in stable condition.
The mishap has cast a shadow over the rapper's involvement in Art Basel, a prestigious gathering that blends international culture, art, and high social standing. Notably, the incident comes at a time when 2Chainz has been enjoying a successful entrepreneurial and artistic phase in his career, a narrative arc now interrupted by something as pedestrian and as potentially lethal as a car crash. Furthermore, the authorities have yet to provide detailed insights into the involvement of the other driver, apart from the suspicion of DUI.
The case is still under investigation.
