Frosty nights and sunny days are set to mark the week ahead. According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the city will see a chill with highs creeping just into the mid-40s today, followed by a drop near freezing come nightfall. After 2:00 a.m., watch for patchy frost, but the rest of the evening should remain mostly clear, with light winds giving peace to the cold.
Early risers on Wednesday will be greeted with widespread frost until 9 a.m., before the sun pierces through the partly sunny skies, sending temperatures nudging upward to around 51 degrees. The calm will return when it's dark, and so will the frost after 2:00 a.m., bringing a slightly nippy low of around 30 degrees. National Weather Service reports.
Thursday's repeat of frost will lift before the morning rush, making way for a mostly sunny day aiming for a more comfortable 57 degrees. The night, however, is partly obscured by clouds, except for a low of 33 degrees. Friday saw a higher climb towards the upper 50s, but the increase in warmth doesn’t mean a reprieve from the night's cold touch, as temperatures will likely fall to the upper 30s.
Saturday, helping temps inch up near 59, but the nighttime cloud cover will keep the city from fully cooling off, setting the low at a more modest 43 degrees. Sunday's forecast brings clouds and a slight chance of rain, teasing at the possibility of a wetter pattern to close out the weekend with highs remaining steady near 58, the National Weather Service indicates.
On Christmas Day, a 60 percent chance of showers and a high of 55 degrees, keeping things cool but not frigid.
