In a heartwarming meld of community service and sports, the Boston Police Department's hockey skills initiative has caught the national spotlight. Officers from the Community Service Office of District A-7 (East Boston) have been tirelessly working to uplift local youth by sharing their love for ice hockey. Officer Marino and Detective Bermejo are now receiving their well-deserved recognition, as featured in the latest edition of US Figure Skating Magazine.

These community-oriented officers have managed to not only teach kids how to deftly maneuver on the ice but also to significantly bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. In the spirited sessions of the learn-to-skate program, children are able to quickly grasp the basics of the sport while building rapport with local law enforcers. Proudly acknowledging the officers' work, the Boston Police Department stated, "We congratulate these officers on a major accomplishment and look forward to the upcoming winter season."

The program has indeed been an exceptional effort at fostering a sense of community and empowering young people through the transformative power of sports. It has provided a platform where kids are not only learning to skate but also absorbing invaluable lessons about teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.

As winter approaches, the anticipation for the continuation of these sessions is high within the community. These are more than just learn-to-skate programs; they are a testament to what can be achieved when officers earnestly endeavor to actively engage with and positively impact the youth in their neighborhoods. The entire community is eagerly waiting to lace up their skates and hit the ice with the inspiring officers at the helm, all set to make this winter season as impactful as the skate blades that will carve up the rinks of East Boston.
