The police have charged a 24-year-old man with the murder of a teenage girl. Joshua Williams of the 7200 block of S. Phillips Ave., stands accused of first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 15-year-old girl, according to a press release from the Chicago Police Department.
Details are sparse but what's known is that the arrest came as a result of diligent work from the CPD members on December 16, 2023, when Williams was apprehended on the 2000 block of W. Maypole Ave., where it is alleged by police officials that Williams is the man responsible for ending the young girl's life in an incident that happened on December 12th, in the same South Side neighborhood where he lives. Alongside the murder charge, Williams also carries the weight of being a fugitive from justice, owing to an out-of-state warrant that further complicates his legal entanglements.
The case has now moved to the courts for a detention hearing at 2600 S. California courthouse as of December 19, 2023. Thus far, law enforcement has withheld additional information as the investigation proceeds.
